Goefoam Insulation

The construction of your pool may need a sooner deadline than you think because of the rising world temperatures. One way of fastening the development is by using innovative technology and techniques. How does Geofoam Insulation reduce the effort and time of building pools?

Creating swimming decks and pools

Contractors use Geofoam Insulation to simplify construction in both commercial and residential properties. These facilities include schools and communities with high populations, high-end hotels, and average residential properties.

Contractors order geofoam blocks in precise measurements or cut them into the exact shape and size required. This strategy simplifies the formation of concrete and reduces construction on critical areas like rooftop pools and lands with poor bearing soils. The crew applies shotcrete to the foam and eliminates the need for expensive forming structures.

How does geofoam compare with other filling materials?

Swimming pool construction

Indoor filling with gravel and sand

Gravel and sand are common swimming pool filling materials. Gravel has unique properties that do not change with the saturation of sand or water.

Low axial load

Geofoam beats both variations because it is light in weight. Using sand or gravel in indoor pools is detrimental to the building and the pool’s decency. Using gravel and sand on more than one floor of the building causes strains and stresses that could tear down the building.

It eliminates lateral loads on foundations and abutments. This case makes it easy to manipulate by hand and transport to each construction site.

Lower vertical pressure

Regular shaped pools have a smooth construction process using geofoam blocks. One only has to lay the blocks on walls and floors in a consistent and straightforward format. Pools with vertical seats, slopes, steps, and contours have a more straightforward construction plan when one uses EPS Geofoam.

The comparison of vertical pressure by soil and geofoam shows that the latter reduces stress by a ratio of at least 120:1. The embankments have a design that produces minimal net load on the foundational soil. One has to remove a volume that is equivalent to the added weight of the new construction.

Less noisy construction

The blocks are easy to move and do not cause excessive distractions in a building with ongoing business. It is possible to move geofoam in between floors by using the elevator.

EPS geofoam has a high engineering mechanism that gives it consistent properties. The composition is of simplistic lightweight products that are easy to mix and control.

Geofoam insulation does not degrade and has a lengthy performance for engineering long-lasting geotechnical applications. It does not leach into the soil or water; hence it does not offer any nutritive value for animals or plants.

Road embankment construction

Geotechnical engineers have a long history of using lightweight materials to reduce strain on the road. Traditional materials like sawdust, slag, cellular concrete, and shredded tires are fifty times heavier than geofoam. Switching to use of geofoam gives the following benefits:

  • Reduced traffic impact
  • Less labor effort
  • Minimal maintenance efforts
  • Fast construction timeline
  • A clean construction field
